Dr Zacharia | Restructure Your Nose With Nose Surgery

Nose surgery is also known as Rhinoplasty or nose job. It is a plastic surgery procedure for reconstructing the shape, retaining the functions and making the nose more attractive. This surgery is mainly undertaken in cases of nasal trauma, respiratory problems, correcting a rhinoplasty procedure and congenital defect.
Rhinoplasty By Dr Michael Zacharia

This surgery is mainly of two types ie open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. The services of an otolaryngologist or a plastic surgeon are required for this purpose. The main objective is to create an attractive, functional and facially proportionate nose. This is done by firstly segmenting the nasal skin and the soft tissues from the nasal framework. The second step is to repair the form or correct the functional damage. This is achieved by making incisions. After the completion of the surgery, the nose is immobilized by using a package to ensure proper healing of the surgical wounds.

Cases in which nose surgery is used:

Congenital deformity – This Rhinoplasty is used to correct the vascular malformations, cleft lip and palate deviations. The main objective is to bring the nose back to its proper size, orientation and position. This procedure involves laser treatment and surgical excision.

Rhinophyma – In this condition, the nasal skin becomes red and thick. The nose tip also gets enlarged. Laser excision procedure is used to correct this condition.

Obstructed airways – In such cases, the size of the nose tip is enhanced to enable the patient to indulge in normal breathing. Baton grafts and spreader grafts are used in this cosmetic surgery.

Cancer – In case of nasal cancer treatment, the cancerous nasal skin is removed. So the corrective rhinoplasty treatment is undertaken to bring the nose to proper shape.

Perforated septum – The various reasons behind this condition are granulomatosis with polyangiitis, sarcoidosis, excessive usage of intranasal drug and nasal aerosol. This condition is reconstructed by grafting autologous bones and ribs.
